Terms of Sale — A Week Awake
By booking a retreat with A Week Awake, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Booking & Payments
With A Week Awake, you have flexible options to book your retreat:
Pay in full at the time of booking.
Pay a deposit to secure your room and complete your remaining balance no later than 60 days before the retreat start date.
Or choose our interest-free payment plan at checkout, which splits your total into interest-free equal monthly installments.
Private and shared room availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Prices may vary with availability and currency fluctuations, but your rate is locked once full payment is received.
2. Cancellations & Refunds
a. Non-Refundable Deposit:
- All payment plan bookings include a non-refundable deposit of $600, due at the time of booking.
b. Cancellations and Refunds:
- 61+ days before retreat start date: Full refund minus a non-refundable $600 deposit — or full credit toward a future retreat.†
- 60–31 days before start date: 50% refund — or 75% credit toward a future retreat.†
- 30–16 days before start date: No refund — or 50% credit toward a future retreat.†
- 15 days or fewer before start date: No refunds or credits available.
†Retreat credits must be used within one year of your original retreat date and are subject to availability and any price differences.
c. Additional Terms for Payment Plans:
If you cancel before all installments are complete, your refund/credit will be calculated based on the full retreat cost, not the amount paid to date.
You remain responsible for completing any pending payments needed to satisfy the refund or credit terms above.
If you fail to complete your payment plan without officially cancelling, your booking will be considered forfeited and no refund or credit will be given.
d. Refund Processing Fees:
- If you have already paid in full and are eligible for a refund, please note that applicable payment processing fees may be deducted from your refund total. These are non-recoverable fees charged by our payment provider and are not retained by A Week Awake.
e. Cancellation by AWA:
- If AWA must cancel a retreat due to natural disasters, safety concerns, or logistical reasons, we cannot reimburse travel expenses. However, you will have the choice of:
- Transferring 110% of your deposit to a future retreat, or
- Receiving a full refund of your deposit.
- Participants will be notified at least 45 days in advance if a retreat must be canceled.
f. Changes by You:
- If you need to make changes to your booking or transfer it to another person, please contact us as soon as possible. While we’ll do our best to accommodate, changes are not guaranteed.
3. Travel & Insurance
You are responsible for arranging your own travel, visas, and insurance. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers retreat costs, medical needs, and trip interruptions.
4. Health, Safety & Responsibility
By participating in an A Week Awake retreat, you acknowledge:
- You are in suitable physical and mental condition to take part in all retreat activities, including but not limited to surfing, yoga, horseback riding, and swimming.
- You understand that these activities carry inherent risks and accept full responsibility for your participation.
- You agree to exercise care for yourself, your belongings, and others both on and off retreat property.
5. Assumption of Risk & Waiver
You agree to voluntarily assume all risks related to participation in the retreat, including potential for injury, illness, property damage, or loss. You waive and release all claims against A Week Awake, its team, and partners, except in cases of gross negligence.
This waiver is binding for your current and future participation in A Week Awake retreats and is governed by the laws of Costa Rica, to which you consent as the exclusive legal jurisdiction.
